Sorry this is oc, but I saw a comment that perhaps you can tell me if it's true or not. Someone was saying Nicole was never popular and fans just use her being on lots of variety(sgb) and having a good image as evidence she was popular when it doesn't mean that. They said it was always Hara, Seungeyon, & Gyuri who were popular and Nicole was always 4th or 5th. I thought Nicole was legit popular and behind Hara around 2009 and that there was even a ranking once (i can't remember where..) that gave her votes that put her only behind Hara. I know it doesn't matter and the point is that she'd loved by many fans, but I'm just curious if you know about her popularity during that time since you seem like you've been a fan since then. Sorry again if you don't want to answer. I just found the comment strange since I was sure she was really popular at one point.
Yep, I've followed KARA since 2007 so I have seen Nicole's popularity rise, fall, and stabilize throughout the years.
Popularity depends on the demographic.
In Korea she didn't seem to have many hardcore fans but there were many supportive Kamilia. In Japan she seems to have a very loyal, strong fan base and internationally she's pretty well known, I've seen many comments from kpop fans who said they were Nicole fans, not neccessarily Kamilia.
Nicole did not have many fans in the beginning but her popularity blew up during Mister. I don't think any one can deny that. That's when she appeared on television many times, even got her own tv show. For a time she had 3 shows airing weekly, her reality show, KARA Bakery, and MBC Star Ranking.
She got her own CF's, like Kappa and Vocastar. If she wasn't popular or well known, she wouldn't have received these opportunities.
She couldn't have appeared on shows because she's just nice, that helps though.
My opinion, Nicole was very popular during 2009 and 2010, then we know what happened after that lol.
Popularity is always changing and hopefully she'll gain many new fans when she comes back.
Thanks for responding! I knew she seemed popular during that time. I don't know why people try to downplay the popularity she had. Maybe they weren't around or it was too long so its hard for them to imagine (esp since she's been MIA these past years)? They compare it to the time Hyoyeon got alot of variety shows and good articles but was still not the most popular amongst SNSD members. Sounds like Nicole was a diff case. Hope she shines and rebuilds the popularity since once had because she's truly a lovely young woman. Thanks again for responding!
Hi admin, I just want to say that I love that you put so much thought in your answers, and that you are objective in conveying your thoughts. You never shift the blame to other members, or was bias towards Nicole. It's refreshing to see this than see people hating on Nicole/Kara without any valid reasons.
